Biography

Danail Stoyanov Yurukov (1852-1926) was a Bulgarian revolutionary, politician, diplomat and public figure from Bratsigovo. He helped prepare the April Uprising, joined the Unity committee after the Liberation and became the first mayor of Bratsigovo. Later he was a deputy in the Regional Assembly of Eastern Rumelia, a member of the Permanent Committee and editor of the newspaper Saedinenie. After the proclamation of the Unification in 1885 he joined the Provisional Government of Eastern Rumelia. From 17 November 1894 to 2 November 1896 he was mayor of Plovdiv, in 1895 helped create the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and later served as trade agent in Skopje and Serres.
