Biography

Panayot Mutafchiev (born in 1868 in Osoitsa) was a Bulgarian public figure and educator. He graduated from the theological academy in Moscow and worked as a teacher at Plovdiv's Knyaz Alexander I high school until 1920. On 16 March 1920 he became head of a three-member commission and served as mayor of Plovdiv until 6 July 1920. The surviving public biography is brief, but it connects him with Plovdiv's educational milieu and transitional municipal government after the First World War.
