Bozhidar Zdravkov

Bozhidar Antonov Zdravkov (1884-1959) was a Bulgarian lawyer, politician and mayor of Plovdiv. Born in Pirot, he graduated from high school in Nish, studied law at Sofia University and, after its closure in 1907, graduated in law from the University of Zagreb. He worked as a judge in Yambol and Sliven, served as an officer candidate and second lieutenant in the Balkan and Inter-Allied wars, and from 1914 lived in Plovdiv, where he was deputy prosecutor and lawyer. As a Democratic Party figure he was mayor in 1932-1935 and 1936-1939. He is associated with city modernization, public works, the strengthening of the International Sample Fair and Plovdiv cultural life; his personal archive is kept by the State Archive - Plovdiv.
