Dr. Hristo Tanchev

Hristo Tanchev Lilov (1862-1936) was a Bulgarian public figure from Karlovo and a cousin of Vasil Levski. He studied law in Liege and worked as a lawyer, judge and prosecutor before becoming a banker and member of parliament. He served several times as a municipal councillor and was mayor of Plovdiv in 1901-1902. He was active in the Plovdiv society of the Macedonian-Adrianopolitan organization, including as chair and deputy chair of its board, and was a delegate to the Fifth Macedonian Congress. Later he headed the BNB branch in Plovdiv, the Bulgarian Agricultural Bank and the Plovdiv Popular Bank.
