Dimitar Kostov
Dimitar Petrov Kostov (1895-1981) was a Bulgarian officer, lawyer and public figure. Born in Svishtov, he graduated from the Military School in Sofia and served as an artillery officer in the First World War. Later he graduated from the Faculty of Law at Sofia University. From 1926 he was secretary of Plovdiv Municipality, and in 1939 became deputy mayor. Between 26 November 1943 and 8 September 1944 he served as mayor of Plovdiv. After the political change of 9 September 1944 he was arrested and held in the Bogdanov Dol and Belene camps.
