mayor
Hafuz Ahmed Efendi
Hafuz Ahmed Efendi was a public figure from the Ottoman Empire listed in Plovdiv's mayoral chronology as acting mayor in the first half of 1884. Biographical data about him is extremely sparse. The Wikipedia article, based on Plovdiv's Mayors, notes that contemporary newspapers described the municipality's condition as poor under his temporary administration. Local reporting based on researcher Katerina Chobanova describes him as a difficult mayor to work with because he did not know Bulgarian; the same photo-collection project could not locate a portrait, including after enquiries with the Mufti's office.
