Ivan Stefanov Geshov

Ivan Stefanov Geshov (1854-1932) was a Bulgarian politician and diplomat from the prominent Revival-era Geshov family. Born in Plovdiv, he graduated from Robert College in Constantinople and studied at Owens College in Manchester. Alongside his cousin Ivan Evstratiev Geshov he was among the leaders of the People's (Unionist) Party in Eastern Rumelia, where he served as a deputy in the Regional Assembly, mayor of Plovdiv in 1880-1883 and chair of the Permanent Committee in 1884-1885. Later he was a member of parliament and diplomat, linking municipal government with the Unionist political current.
