Petar Shilev

Petar Shilev (1853-1945) was a Bulgarian teacher, revolutionary and public figure from Golyamo Konare, today Saedinenie. He graduated from the Yellow School in Plovdiv and taught in Golyamo Konare and Peshtera. He was active in the Unification of Eastern Rumelia with the Principality of Bulgaria as deputy chair of the Golyamo Konare committee; together with Prodan Tishkov-Chardafon he led the local detachment toward Plovdiv. He was a member of parliament, deputy mayor and district governor of Plovdiv. Between 6 July 1920 and 1 March 1921 he served as mayor of Plovdiv as chair of a three-member commission and authored Memoirs of the Unification.
