Biography
Hristo Ivanov Dyukmedzhiev (1847-1905) was a Bulgarian revolutionary, public figure and Liberal Party politician born in Dupnitsa. In his youth he worked as a foundryman, helped prepare the Stara Zagora uprising, emigrated to Romania and Serbia, and served as a volunteer in the Russo-Turkish War. After moving to Plovdiv in 1881, he assisted the BTCRC in the Unification, took part in the Serbo-Bulgarian War, and was mayor of Plovdiv in 1887-1890; during his term construction began on the city water supply from Hrabrino. Later he was a member of parliament, governor of the Kyustendil customs office, and mayor of Samokov.
