Biography

Ivan Georgiev Stanchev (1869-1931) was a Bulgarian officer and colonel from Panagyurishte. He graduated from the Military School in Sofia in 1892, served in infantry and quartermaster posts, and took part in the Balkan Wars and the First World War. The official mayoral chronology lists him as mayor of Plovdiv in January-June 1923; the Regional History Museum Plovdiv study specifies that he headed a three-member municipal commission elected on 10 January 1923 and dissolved after the 9 June coup.

Officially listed mayoral term in Plovdiv Municipality's mayor archive: 11 January – 9 June 1923.
