Biography
Ivan Kolev Perpeliev (1909-1963) was a Bulgarian teacher and Bulgarian Communist Party politician born in Gorno Belevo near Chirpan. He graduated from the pedagogical school in Kazanlak, worked as a teacher, farmer, grocer and cooperative manager, and was a political prisoner in 1936-1937 because of his political activity. After 9 September 1944 he headed the economic council at the Fatherland Front regional committee in Plovdiv; he was mayor in 1945-1949 while also serving in regional BRP/BKP structures. After his term he became deputy minister of construction and of foreign trade, and trade representative in West Germany with ambassadorial rank.
