Biography

Ivan Stoyanov Dimitrov (1919-2003) was a public figure born in Plovdiv. He graduated from the local Knyaz Alexander I high school, studied financial and administrative sciences, and after 1944 pursued a military career including studies at the G. S. Rakovski and M. V. Frunze military academies. A Regional History Museum Plovdiv study describes his election as chair of the City People's Council after a party decision in late 1962; his 1963-1965 term was followed by diplomatic work in China and administrative posts in Plovdiv.
