Biography

Kosta Kumanov (1924-2001) was a Bulgarian public figure born in Plovdiv. Biographical references present him as a civil engineer who studied in Sofia and worked on nationally significant construction sites; in 1964 he became deputy chair of the Executive Committee of the City People's Council. As mayor in 1968-1971, the Regional History Museum Plovdiv study connects him with the engineering and construction profile of the city administration and preparatory policies for infrastructure, tourism and cultural heritage. An official municipal publication preserves an administrative recollection from the start of his term: employee Elka Kovacheva recalled that on 1 August 1969 she joined the then City People's Council, where Mayor Kumanov wished that she would retire from the same institution.

Officially listed mayoral term in Plovdiv Municipality's mayor archive: 17 January 1968 – 2 July 1971.
