Biography

Zdravko Dimitrov Dimitrov (born 22 May 1963 in Plovdiv) is a Bulgarian politician, sports administrator and former basketball player who was mayor of Plovdiv from 2019 to 2023. He graduated from Vasil Levski Secondary School in Plovdiv, earned a bachelor's degree in sports pedagogy from Plovdiv University, master's degrees in psychology and public administration from the same university, and financial-management training from the D. A. Tsenov Academy of Economics in Svishtov. As a player he competed for CSKA and SSK Akademik Plovdiv and played for Bulgaria's national basketball team; later he served as president of BC Akademik. In politics he was a GERB founding member, mayor of Zapaden District (2007-2011), regional governor of Plovdiv, MP in the 42nd and 43rd National Assemblies, and in 2019 won the mayoral election for Plovdiv Municipality.
