Dr. Ivan Chomakov
Dr Ivan Milkov Chomakov (born 15 October 1953 in Plovdiv) is a Bulgarian anaesthesiologist and politician. He graduated in medicine from the Higher Medical Institute in Plovdiv in 1979, worked in Madan, and from 1981 to 1997 was chief assistant in anaesthesiology and intensive care; his record includes specialization with Prof. Chirkov, work in Libya, and 23 scientific publications. Before becoming mayor he was a member of the 38th National Assembly and regional leader of the Union of Democratic Forces; he served two mayoral terms in Plovdiv from 1999 to 2007.
