mayor
Mihail Madzharov
Mihail Ivanov Madzharov (1854-1944) was a Bulgarian publicist, diplomat, minister and politician, one of the leaders of the People's Party. Born in Koprivshtitsa, he graduated from Robert College and was a member of the Bulgarian Literary Society. For many years he served as a deputy in ordinary and Grand National Assemblies, and in different cabinets held the portfolios of public buildings, roads and communications, interior, defence and foreign affairs. His mayoral term in Plovdiv in 1894 was brief, but his biography places him among national political figures who also passed through Plovdiv municipal government.
