Petar Drenski

Petar Naydenov Drenski (1876-1948) was a Bulgarian officer, colonel and mayor of Plovdiv. Born in Plovdiv, he graduated from Knyaz Alexander I high school and the Military School in Sofia. He served in the 21st Srednogorski and 29th Yambol infantry regiments, took part in the Balkan Wars, and during the First World War commanded the 24th Black Sea Infantry Regiment and later a brigade of the 2nd Thracian Infantry Division. After the 9 June 1923 coup he was appointed chair of the three-member commission, and from 1924 to 1927 served as mayor of Plovdiv. Later he worked in the Kartel tobacco factories and the Agria chemical enterprise.
