The minister of flowers

The garden was created in 1892 for the First Bulgarian Agricultural-Industrial Exhibition by the Swiss gardener Lucien Chevalas (1840–1921) — on the site of an old Turkish cemetery. For his contribution to the city, Chevalas was declared an honorary citizen of Plovdiv in 1901.

The Singing Fountains

In the south-western corner of the park lies the lake with the Singing Fountains — a show of water, music and light that, in the summer season, plays every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 21:00.
